Famicom – Nintendo (1983–2003)

Nintendo launched the Family Computer, commonly known as the Famicom, in Japan in 1983. Designed as a cartridge-based home console, it became the foundation for the internationally released Nintendo Entertainment System and played a major role in establishing Nintendo as a dominant force in the videogame industry. Nintendo continued manufacturing the original Famicom hardware in Japan until 2003.
