Sega Mega-CD – Sega (1991–1996)
Sega’s Mega-CD, released in 1991, was a CD-ROM expansion unit for the Sega Mega Drive, designed to enhance the console with increased storage capacity, CD-quality audio, animated cutscenes, and expanded gameplay possibilities. As one of the earliest CD-based gaming add-ons, it represented Sega’s push toward multimedia entertainment during the early 1990s.
