Game Consoles – NEC (1987–1998)

NEC entered the home video game market in 1987 through a partnership with Hudson Soft, launching the PC Engine in Japan. The compact cartridge-based system became a major success domestically and was later released in North America as the TurboGrafx-16 in 1989. Although built around an 8-bit CPU, its advanced graphics hardware helped establish it as one of the defining systems of the early 16-bit console era.
