Good Luck Trolls (1959–Present)

Good Luck Trolls originated in Denmark with woodcarver Thomas Dam, who began creating troll figures during the 1950s and established a small factory in 1959 to meet growing demand. Their distinctive appearance—large eyes, rounded faces, pot bellies, oversized feet, and brightly coloured upright hair—quickly made them internationally recognisable. By the early 1960s, Dam’s creations were widely marketed as Good Luck Trolls, with ownership and rubbing their colourful hair associated with bringing good fortune.
