GoBots – Tonka (1983–1987)

Tonka’s GoBots line debuted in 1983, introducing Western audiences to a range of transforming robots licensed from Bandai’s Japanese Machine Robo series. Arriving just before the launch of Transformers, GoBots quickly became one of the defining robot toy lines of the 1980s, combining compact transformations, durable construction, and affordable pricing with an expanding cast of heroic Guardians and villainous Renegades.
